If you have already installed a custom recovery and made a backup copy of your stock firmware, you are ready for rooting.
Are you a seasoned installer? Jump straight to the Y210 Files Archive.
CAUTION
The process of rooting involves the risk of permanently bricking your device, introducing bugs and/or damaging your hardware. It will also void the manufacturer's warranty. Proceed at your own risk.
Rooting can be achieved in many ways, we prefer the easy, one-click method. For the Y210, we opted for the free Kingo Android Root software.
STEP 1
Download Kingo, install the software and restart your computer. Go into your phone's settings menu and make sure USB debugging is enabled under Apps. Plug your USB cable to the device and PC.
STEP 2
Right click on the Kingo software icon and select Run As Administrator. Kingo will search for your device and start the rooting process. If your device is not found, try disconnecting the USB cable from your PC and choose a different USB port. Once done your phone will reboot. To check if rooting was successful, look in your app drawer for the SuperUser app.
STEP 3 (optional)
Make a backup copy of your now rooted stock firmware. Power off your device. Hold down both the volume UP and POWER buttons until you enter the ClockWorkMod recovery screen. Using the volume UP/DOWN toggle, scroll to backup and restore and press the POWER button to select.
From the next screen, select backup and let the process complete itself. When done, select reboot system now. A backup copy of your rooted firmware will have been saved to your microSD card under the ClockWorkMod folder.
